It’s Restaurant Week in DC. We were very excited to try “Art and Soul“. A new restaurant near Capital Hill by Art Smith – a James Beard award winner and (maybe more interesting) was Oprah’s private chef. What a disappointment! My first thought was to call is soul-less. The service was hurried and inattentive. It felt like a race to get us out of there. The food was fine. Not great, not bad – almost nothing to write about. The best item of the night was the spinach under my husbands chicken. The chicken itself was weirdly sweet. I had salmon with roasted potatoes. Very plain and not terrible well done. I tried the “baby cakes” for dessert, which were mini cupcakes. The waiter told me they were different, but they tasted the same to me. We had to almost tackle him to order coffee.

There is very little news from us right now on our adoption. Right now we are just waiting. As for other things, my project in Arkansas has ended. I am looking forward to being home and reconnecting with family and friends after working out of town since May 08.
