December 2008

It is my favorite time of the month — babies are arriving! If you want to see their cute little mugs – visit: http://chinaadopttalk.com/2008/12/29/babies-19/

For those of you who are keeping track, China has referred babies to families with LIDs through 2/28/06. So, that means there are 5 months and 3 days worth of applications ahead of us in line. Rough estimate is a 18-24 more months of waiting for us, since, on average, it takes China 4 months of time to place one month of applications. (5 months of applications in front of us X 4 months average processing time forĀ one month of applicationsĀ = 20 months).

To celebrate the season, we visited the National Zoo “Zoo Lights“. It was fun to visit the zoo at night when it wasn’t so crowded… but it was COLD!.

Earlier this week, while sitting at my dining room table, I noticed feathers and fur flying. When I got up to investigate, I found a hawk “dispatching” of a squirrel right besides our back porch. Not your normal backyard bird sighting.

This weekend we celebrated Christmas with my husband’s family. We visited the US Botanic Gardens which were filled with holiday cheer. New this year – the indoor winter wonderland railway with a fairytale trail and santa’s village. It was magical for the little and big elves, alike!

Congrats to new parents. China has now referred babies with LIDs through 2/23/06.
