My mom and I recently returned from a four day Royal Caribbean cruise from Baltimore to Bermuda. To be honest, the two days at sea felt a little like camp for retirees. However, all of the “campiness” was worth it to see the pink sands of Bermuda. This is Horseshoe Bay Beach. It is perhaps the loveliest beach that I have ever been on. The sand was soft, the breezes were cool and the water was turquoise blue. If you look carefully (there is a close up picture on flickr) you can see the flecks of pink color from crushed coral and shells in the sand.

We visited our friends at the USCIS for the third time today to be fingerprinted. For those if you who are keeping count — that is the 6th time we have been fingerprinted for the adoption. Three times for USCIS and three times for police clearances. Here’s to hoping that it is the last time!

For our anniversary, we went to Minibar in downtown DC. It seats six and they only offer two seatings per night. It was 30 tastes over two hours. The food was avant-garde and very good. They played with temperatures and textures. Things that you expected to warm were frozen. Things that you expected to be liquid (like the Olive Oil Bon-Bon) were hard on the outside and liquid on the inside.
The food is very hard to describe — check out the photos if you want to see more.
