We had to go for our annual adoption “physicals”. It is a short form that asks if we are generally healthy, have HIV and if the DR thinks we could perform parenting duties. Not sure how the Drs can know this, but the are asked anyway.
Time for a little rant – I have now had to ask for three HIV tests. Each time, there is silence on the other end of the line. Each time I get strange looks when I get to the office. After all of these years and all that people know, it is a little shocking to me that HIV is not a standard test. It is time to get past the stigma. Rant over.
