So, in our quest to do things that we may not be able to do as easily when we (finally) have a child, we had a night on the town on Saturday. We dined at Marcel’s, a Belgian restaurant, on the outskirts of Georgetown. It was wonderful! Our waiter, Jonathan, was attentive and informative. I tried a three course tasting menu… the first course was turbot with a cauliflower puree, the second course was duck with a blackberry sauce and the third course double cream cheese on toast. Yum! My husband started with the beet and goat cheese salad and then had an amazing saffron seafood bouillabaisse. Then… for the cool part… the restaurant offers town car service to the Kennedy Center. We had orchestra level seats for Phantom of the Opera (running through Aug 12th if you are going to be in DC). The show was great. The set was detailed; the music was as wonderful as I had imagined; and the costumes were over the top (loved them!). After the show, the Marcel’s town car picked us up and returned us to the restaurant. Within minutes, the valet had retrieved our car and we were on our way home in no-time. This was a five star night! I highly recommend it.

This is an interesting article by David Crary called Key to a Good Marriage? Share Housework.
In essence, a recent study reports that having children is not the key to marital bliss. Well, that shouldn’t be a surprise — since when did having kids fix a relationship? The report does cite sharing housework as an important factor (I agree!). Anyway, it is an interesting read.
